SEO Ranking Signals
For Google SEO
Website owners… pay attention!
In the last year or so, Google search engine optimization has changed dramatically from relying on a limited number of factors to now relying on a very diverse collection of (not fully documented) factors.
First Penguin and Panda and now Hummingbird showcase the new “Google Zoo” that indicates the beginning of a major shift in focus for Google.
This infographic by SearchEngineJournal.com and Backlinko may give you some much needed perspective. The piece covers all of the known 200 ranking signals that Google uses to rank sites and pages.
However, it’s important to note that many of these aren’t proven or official ranking signals.
The text on this thing is crazy small so you may want to click on it, to open it in a new tab, so you can zoom in and view the full thing at a larger size. (Just remember to come back here to comment!)
Whew what a list!
I’m pleased to see the whole sections on user interaction as well as social signals as those are things we’ve talked extensively about.
Be sure to keep an eye on that over-optimization penalty which can be a very real issue for sites that hire a super-aggressive SEO team that does not think in terms of big picture impacts.
Once you’ve got your head around (or at least your eyes glazed over) by this list, I’d suggest checking out the new article about how to handle SEO Copy-writing in this “modern SEO” day and age.
Do you think Google is looking at the right things or wrong things when it comes to SEO today?
